Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore Board
After the independence of Pakistan, the examination of secondary
were taken by University of the Punjab. Later on, the Board of Secondary Education Punjab was established which took the responsibility of taking examinations of secondary and intermediate. Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Lahore
comes under body of government in Lahore division. BISE Lahore
was established in 1954 and took its first examination in 1955.
Jurisdiction (Areas of examinations)
In the beginning, this board was allowed to take exams from Punjab, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and some Northern areas but now it is allowed to conduct examinations in Lahore dictrict, Okara district, Kasur District and Sheikhupura District.

Hierarchy of the Board
(governing body) will be controlling all matters of its office and it comprises of The Chairman (head of the Board), Vice-Chancellor of a university (who takes orders from Chairman only), District Officers, Director of technical Education, Representatives of finance and education departments, a Principal of degree college (who can deal things under jurisdiction of the Board), a principal of Intermediate College (who can also deal situations under jurisdiction of the Board) and some other members.
Ahsan Iqbal is now the Chairman of the Board, Lahore, and he is also the Minister of Education Pakistan. This BISE

System of marking
For matriculation exams, 850 or 1050 marks are considered total both in science and arts. Student with less than 33% marks will not get degree. For Inter 1100 marks are regarded as full marks and 33% is minimum criteria of passing this exam.
