Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Multan was found in 30 March, 1968 in West Pakistan. It came into its existence after Ordinance of West Pakistan which was passed by assembly of Pakistan.
In the beginning few districts like Quetta, Bahawulpur and Dera Ghazi Khan were working together with BISE Multan but later on due to excessive amount of students taking part in examinations, more boards were formed.
Fifteen members are working as the board of governors in the BISE Multan including the chairman of the board.
Four districts come under the jurisdiction of this board, which are Multan district, Khanewal district, Vehari district and Lodhran district. This board has authority of taking exams in these districts and its near areas. Outside these areas this board is incapable of conducting exams.
The organizational setup of this board consists of mainly a chairman, a secretary and a controller. Nowadays Chaudary Rasheed Ahmed is the chairman of the board. Professor Muhammad Akber is the controller of exams. Chairman is the main person of this organization but controller is the one controlling exams of matriculation and intermediate.
Controller does not control finance and administration; it is the job of secretary. Arshad Jawaid Awan is the secretary of the Multan board. Its head office is located near Gol Bagh Gulgasht Colony, Multan.
Multan Board is considered the one of the difficult boards to pass. It provides degree in matriculation and intermediate. The criterion of passing both the exams is 33%. In matriculation, it provides degree in science and arts. In intermediate, it can issue certificates in pre-engineering, pre-medical, commerce and computer science.
